Our client is a rapidly growing Division of a large Publicly traded company operating in the Manufacturing, Agriculture and Processing industries and located in Norfolk County. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience acquired in public company settings to assist the business and stakeholders in growing the organization.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Controller  will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and decision support This is a hardworking, hands-on, rolls-up-your-sleeves roll emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative management style. The candidate must not be afraid of a changing environment particularly in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and operation/functional change and integration.

Responsibilities

Finance and Accounting Oversight and Leadership

  • Ensure the maintenance of accounting records and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
  • Monthly full cycle accounting, responsible for month end close
  • Work closely with the Canadian division and US corporate group to ensure timely, accurate, and controls compliant completion of month and quarter end reporting
  • Maintains accounting controls and procedures, liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Oversea reporting, compliance, and payments related to CRA
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of an activity-based costing system and the related cost accounting analysis (variance analysis, margin analysis, )
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and provide monthly actual to budget results
  • Manage and forecast cash flows to maintain adequate working capital
  • Manage and plan capital asset expenditures

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years experience in a financial management leadership position
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards
  • Experience with Canadian and/or US public companies and related compliance requirements
  • Experience in monitoring a SOX 404 compliant internal control environment
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or agricultural industries
  • Experience with ERP systems / SAP
  • Experience implementing and/or maintaining an activity-based costing system and the related cost accounting analysis (variance analysis, margin analysis, )
  • Proven leader able to liaise with local senior management and parent company management
  • Experience with large capital projects and the related budgeting and cash management
  • Experience with the formation of annual budgets and operating plans
